Rose (Desimone) Gentile passed away peacefully at Bryn Mawr Hospital on Saturday, October 13, 2018 with her daughter, Franny by her side. She was 98. Mrs. Gentile was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, PA. She graduated from the former Bridgeport High School, Class of 1937. Rose worked part-time at her family’s business, Desimone’s Café in Bridgeport. She was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bridgeport and a member of the school’s Mothers’ Club. Rose lived an incredible life. Her smile was contagious and her generosity knew no bounds. She loved being with her family and especially most recently with her two great- granddaughters who were her pride and joy. The company of friends from near and far brought her much pleasure. She was a tremendous influence on her family and friends just by her strong presence. She was an avid cook and she liked to bake as she delighted the palate of many. Her pizzelles were second to none! Whether it was her weekly trip to Shoprite, cheering on her Phillies, beating her challengers at Scrabble, entertained by word searches or trying her lucky hand at scratch off lottery tickets and the Casino, she performed each and every task with great enthusiasm and energy. Rose simply loved people and she was a true lover of life. She was a beautiful being both inside and out. Born in Swedeland, on December 18, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Carmine and Pasqualina (DiFeo) Desimone. She was the wife of the late Frank Gentile, who died in 2007. Surviving is her loving family including two daughters, Rosemarie (Ed) Matejkovic of Kimberton, PA and Frances "Franny" Gentile of Bridgeport, PA; two grandchildren, Keeley (Patrick) Lannon of Chadds Ford, Pa. and Whitney (Don) Nye of Raleigh, NC; two great- granddaughters, Avalia Ann and Atlas Rose; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by seven brothers: Ralph, Salvatore, Louis, John, Michael, Jenard and Carmen M. Jr.; and a sister, Helen M. Desimone.
