Rose C Gorski

October 19, 1925 — October 19, 2021

Rose Catherine (Svetz) Gorski, 96 of Norristown, PA died Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Phoenixville Hospital on her 96th birthday. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Gorski. Born in Allentown, Rose was the oldest child of Ignatius and Anna (Ceresnik) Svetz. The family moved to Lansford where Rose was a 1944 graduate of the former Lansford High School. She attended the Montgomery Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1947. As a student nurse, she met her future husband Tom, who was soldier on leave from the Army Air Corps visiting his mother in the hospital where Rose worked. Rose’s care for Tom’s mother did not go unnoticed by him and soon the two were dating. They were married in 1947 and took up residence in Norristown. Rose’s nursing career spanned forty years and included service at Montgomery Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital and private duty nursing. Rose was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning much of what she grew in her garden. She maintained this love well into her 90s. She also enjoyed tending her beautiful roses, reading and community volunteering but her greatest love was raising her three sons and spending time with her husband and family, especially outdoors. Rose was a founding member of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Norristown. She was a devout parishioner embracing her Catholic faith immensely attending daily mass for many years. Rose was a member of the Women’s Guild and Sodality. She attended adoration regularly even throughout the covid pandemic, and prayed many novenas and rosaries for family, friends and fellow parishioners. Rose had a special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Blessed Mother, the Devine Mercy Chaplet and Saint Therese of the Little Flower of Jesus. Rose is survived by her sons, Thomas and Kathy (Brady) Gorski of Gilbertsville, PA, Theodore Gorski of Norristown, PA, James and Patti (Miller) Gorski of State College, PA, her two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Theresa Svetz of Hometown and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Ignatius and Anna Svetz, her husband, Thomas J. Gorski, and her brothers, Joseph J. Svetz and Ignatius J. (Iggy) and Jane Svetz. Mass of Christian burial at 10 AM, Tuesday October 26th at the Visitation of the BVM Roman Catholic Church, 196 N. Trooper Road, Norristown, PA. Viewing will be held from 8:50 – 9:50 AM.
