Rose M. Porcello passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025. She was surrounded by her family throughout her short hospitalization and at the time of her death. She was 84. Born in Fulton, NY on August 11, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Barone. She was raised on the family farm, where she learned the value of hard work from a young age. After graduating from Fulton high school in 1959, she worked multiple jobs before starting as an administrative assistant at General Electric company in Liverpool, NY in 1963. She met the love of her life there, Joseph Porcello, and they married in 1970 and settled in North Syracuse, NY where they raised two sons.

Rose was a dedicated homemaker & wife, always stressed the importance of education to her two sons, and helped move the family multiple times for her husband’s career. For many years, she brought color and life to her family’s home, tending her beautiful hydrangeas in the yard, baking her much-loved blueberry muffins, and proudly painting the garage doors a shade of bright orange the neighborhood never forgot. She took an active role in her sons’ education, keeping close tabs on their teachers and schools and always looking for opportunities that might help them learn and succeed. She was also a devoted daughter, making sure her sons spent time with their grandparents in Fulton in the summer and during winters in Vero Beach, FL. She even braved many family vacations to Disney World, insisting on taking her sons to EPCOT for an educational experience when it opened in the early 1980s. In the years that followed, she took great pride in watching both her sons graduate from college, pursue advanced degrees, and build their own lives in Philadelphia and San Francisco.

Upon Joseph’s death in 2010, Rose moved into the Shannondell Retirement Community in Audubon, PA. Here she made many good friends, and enjoyed all the activities the community offered. She was a familiar face in nearly every exercise class, where the instructors knew her by name and asked after her when she missed a day. She enjoyed going to the movies, shopping trips, and took every opportunity to explore new places, from day trips to New York City to bus rides to Atlantic City and beyond. She loved to read, and was also an avid walker - walking nearly four miles each day in her complex. Throughout her long life she valued hard work and family above everything else. She never missed an opportunity to help others, and loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Rose is survived by her loving family including two sons, Brian (Kimberly) Porcello of King of Prussia, PA and Darrell Porcello of San Francisco, CA; three grandchildren: Connor, Kaylie & Sean; two siblings Peter (Rita) Barone & Betty (Robert) Petronis; and many nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, V. Ann (Bill) Wright and Joseph James Barone, and her son Darrell’s partner James Roddy.

Services and internment will be privately held by the family.
