Ruth O. (O'Hare) Lare passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Suburban Community Hospital in E. Norriton, PA, at the age of 94. She was a resident of E. Norriton, PA. She worked as an administrative assistant for Merck, Sharp and Dohme and was an active member of St. Paul's R.C. Church in E. Norriton. Ruth was an avid Navy football fan and season ticket holder, who never missed a home game or U.S. Naval Academy event, attending games and tailgating well into her late 80’s. Along with her husband Ben, she enjoyed many great personal relationships in Annapolis over the years. She was, however, the greatest fan of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing any of their sporting events or activities and was their loudest cheerleader on the sidelines. Ruth's greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She especially cherished the time spent with them during the summer at her family pool and gathered around her table at every holiday. A talented baker with a sweet tooth, she passed down recipes and traditions for everything from shoofly pie to home-made ketchup. She had an immense pride in her home town of Pottsville, a selfless and giving personality, and self-reliant spirit. Born in Pottsville, Pa on November 17, 1926, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Catharine Ruth (Yocum) O'Hare. In 1953, she married the late Benjamin W. Lare, an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, who died in 2008. Surviving is her loving family including a son, James (Kathy) Lare; a daughter, Constance (John) Capaldo; five grandchildren: Christopher (Carrie) Lare, Paul (Kim) Lare, Laura (Michael) Dougherty, Matthew (Caroline) Capaldo and Christina (Francisco) Wong; and ten great-grandchildren: Emily Lare, Gavin Lare, Rhys Lare, Cohen Lare, Kennedy Lare, Bode Lare, Grace Dougherty, Nora Dougherty, Jack Capaldo and Brooke Capaldo. Relatives and friends are invited to Ruth's viewing at St. Paul's R.C. Church, 2007 New Hope St., E. Norriton, PA on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 9 to 9:45 am; her Funeral Mass will start at 10:00 am. Masks and social distancing are required.
