Salvatore “Sal” A. Salamone, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at his residence in King of Prussia, PA, with his loving wife hand in hand by his side. He was 76 years old. Sal was a longtime resident of King of Prussia and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Bridgeport.
Born in Norristown, PA on March 2, 1950, he was the son of the late Maurine (Lester) and Salvatore A. Salamone, Sr.
Sal had a long career in education. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees, from Villanova University and then took pre-doctorate classes at Temple University. After receiving his own education, he went on to teach and inspire young minds through both teaching and administrative work. He started out as a history teacher at Yeadon High School. He then became assistant principal at Penn Wood East Junior High School. Then he went on to become principal at Penn Wood West Junior High School. After 25 years at Penn Wood, he ultimately moved on to become the principal at Chichester Middle School in 1997. Sal devoted 35 years to his career and had a lasting impact on all those students he came in contact with.
In addition to his professional career, Sal also influenced the youth through his love of coaching basketball. He was the Head Coach of the Yeadon High School Boys Basketball Team in the 1970’s. He was the Delaware County Coach of the year in the 1977-1978 season. He also coached and ran the Upper Merion boys basketball rec league from 1984-1990.
Sal was an avid sports fan, having season tickets to both the Philadelphia Phillies and most importantly the Villanova Wildcats basketball team. He also loved summering at their home in Ocean City New Jersey.
Sal is survived by his loving family including his beloved wife of 54 years, Patricia A. (Zaraco) Salamone; his son, Kenneth A. Salamone (Lisa Kearney); two daughters, Karlee Salamone and Kristina Salamone; five grandchildren, Kenneth Salamone, Jr., Grace Salamone, Nathaniel Kearney, Daniel Kearney, and Timothy Kearney; his sister, Marissa Spera and her children, his sister-in- law and brother-in-law Deborah and Bill Holdsworth and their children and sister-in-law Carole Zaraco Freeland and her children; as well as many extended family members and friends. Sal also leaves behind his beloved family dog, Freddie, who always sat on his lap and enjoyed watching all the games with him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sal’s viewing on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 6 to 8pm at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, 805 DeKalb St, Bridgeport, PA 19405. There will be a second viewing held on Friday morning, September 4, 2026 from 9:30-10:15am at Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson St. Bridgeport, PA 19405. His Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30am. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sal’s name to Alliance Cancer Specialists at Main Line, 100 East Lancaster Avenue, Wynnewood, PA 19096.
