Samuel Paul Durant passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Mercy Suburban Hospital in E. Norriton, PA. He was 85. Mr. Durant was a resident of King of Prussia, PA. He worked as a technical service manager for Welding Engineer. Samuel loved watching and playing sports and he was in various baseball leagues in the area. He was a machinist and had great mechanical abilities.Mr. Durant was a US Army veteran of WW II, serving from 1943 to 1945. He was named a "Chevalier" of the Legion of Honor by the President of the French Republic for merits and accomplishments for his role in the liberation of France during WW II. The Legion of Honor was created by Napoleon in 1802 to acknowledge services rendered to France by persons of great merit.Born in Philadelphia, PA on April 20, 1924, he was a son of Paul and Agnes M. (Farrell) Durant. Surviving are his loving family including his wife of 67 years, Alyce C. (Conolly) Durant; three sons, David Paul Durant and his wife, Minnie of Garland, Texas, Michael Durant and his wife, Mary of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Christopher Durant of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren: Kathleen, Ellen, Kevin and Daniel; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Anne McGill and Frances McClay.Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, Pa 19406 on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 11:00am. Friends may call Wednesday morning from 10 to 10:50am, at the church.
