Samuel J. George, Sr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his residence in King of Prussia, PA. He was 94. Mr. George worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Our Lady of The Assumption Church in Strafford, PA, the VFW Post 840 in Bridgeport, PA, the 542 Operating Engineers, and the Men of Malvern.Mr. George was a US Army veteran of WW II, serving as a sergeant from 1941 to 1945, in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was also an Army Ranger. Samuel was awarded the following medals: Good Conduct, Asiatic Campaign, American Defense Campaign, American Victory and also two Battle Stars.Born in King of Prussia, PA on May 30, 1919, he was a son of the late Divinangelo and Maria T. (Chiappini) DiGregorio. He was the husband of the late Mary Seda (DeCarlo) George, who died in 2002. Surviving is his loving family including a daughter, Mary Anne Blackburn of Wayne, PA; two grandchildren, Jacqueline Anne and Christine Marie Blackburn; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel J. George, Jr.; a son-in-law, Jeremy Blackburn; 5 brothers: Bernard, Albert, John, Angelo & Frank; 4 sisters: Clementine Gharetelli, Helen Dangeli, Anna Odorisis and Mary Falgani. Relatives & friends are invited to Samuel's Funeral Mass at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 35 Old Eagle School Rd., Strafford, PA on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 10:00am. His viewing will be Wednesday morning from 9 to 9:50am, at the church.
