Stephen Burry passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Eagleville, PA. He was 86. Mr. Burry worked as a bricklayer for Union 54 in Norristown, PA, Local 1 in Philadelphia, PA and John B. Kelly, Kelly for Brickwork in Philadelphia. Stephen was a past member of SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Bridgeport, PA. He was a life member of the Lower Providence Fire Co. and a past commander of the VFW Post 1564 in Phoenixville, PA. Stephen was also a member of the Tri-Valley Polkateer Pals; he loved hunting, fishing, and most of all, polka dancing. He was an avid bowler at Facenda Whitaker Lanes. Mr. Burry was a US Navy veteran of WW II, serving in the Pacific.Born in Swedesburg, PA on June 17, 1927, he was a son of the late Ignatius and Catherine (Ewanick) Burry. Surviving is his loving family including his wife of 50 years, Ruth L. (Strausser) Burry; 3 sons: Steven A. Burry and his wife, Anita, of Collegeville, PA, Jon M. Burry and his wife, Debbie, of Spring City, PA and Michael O. Burry and his wife, Amie, of Royersford, PA; 2 daughters, Janice L. LaBarge and her husband, Michael, of Phoenixville, PA and Diane L. Remley and her husband, John, of Swansboro, NC; 11 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sophia Murray of Norristown, PA and Catherine Proietto of Palmyra, PA. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, John and Michael, and a sister, Mary Gadzicki. Viewings are Wednesday evening, November 20, 2013 from 6 to 8pm with Parastas at 7pm, at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405; and Thursday morning from 9 to 9:50am, at SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 519 Union Ave., Bridgeport, PA, immediately followed by Divine Liturgy on Thursday at 10:00 am. Officiating will be the Msgr. Dr. Ronald Popivchak, Pastor. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Stephen's memory to SS.
