Stephen R. Mistysyn passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Norriton Square Nursing & Rehab in Norristown, PA. He was 76. Stephen left behind his loving life partner of 34 years, Sue Brown and his much loved pug dogs, Odie and Leia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Betty (Steffy) Mistysyn. Steve is also survived by two daughters, Laura Mistysyn and Melissa (Craig) Johnson; 3 grandchildren; and a sister, Sandra (Joe) Whalen. He will be dearly missed by Sue’s daughter, Dianne (Bob) Johns and her children, Bobby (Tiffany) Johns, Melissa Johns, Timothy Johns; a great-grandson, Mason; and Sue’s son, Barry (Shelley) Brown. Born in St. Clair on July 25, 1941, he moved to Norristown with his family and graduated from Norristown High School in 1959. Working for Leon Altemose, he learned his trade in carpentry and went into business for himself as a contractor. He excelled in sports which led to his love for college football and played for a short time at Penn State under Joe Paterno. Steve loved living life his way, tailgating at Beaver Stadium, crabbing at Ocean City, NJ, trips from New England to Key West or just sitting on his deck at home. Steve’s Prayer Service will be held at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 am. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 10 to 10:50 am, at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Steve’s memory to the Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E.
