Susan Varani

Susan Varani, 79, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Christiana Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Susan was born in Philadelphia, PA, on May 14, 1947, a daughter of the late Louise (Ciccone) and Ubaldo A. Varani.

She was a devoted member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Newark, DE.

Susan was employed as an educator and dedicated many years to helping and inspiring others. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and the lasting impact she made on the lives of those she taught and those who knew and loved her.

Susan is survived by her loving son, Stephen Bendzick and by her loving sister, Laura Diver, and brother-in-law, Robert Diver. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, former colleagues, students, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 2 PM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 15 Gender Rd. Newark, DE, 19713.
