Theodore "Ted" Blaise Panaccion, Sr. Born March 5, 1917 in Jenkintown, Pa., he died peacefully at home on Dec. 20, 2015. Ted was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Anna Panaccion; his brothers, Moses (Mose), Victor (Toots), and Anthony (Tony); and his two sisters, Mary and Sophie. Ted was the beloved husband of Alice Catherine Gallagher, who also predeceased him. Ted is survived by three children, Mary K. Panaccion, Jane A. Serfass (husband Jerry), and Theodore B. Panaccion, Jr. (wife Anita); six grandchildren, Adam, Matthew, Joshua, Michelle, Jennifer, and T.J.; and four great-grandchildren, Jordon, Zachary, Chloe, and Layla. Ted graduated from Jenkintown High School, where he excelled in three sports, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Ted was a member of the "Greatest Generation." During World War II, he served as a First Sgt. in the U.S. Army under General Patton. He participated in the African and Sicilian campaigns. He was attached to the Transportation Corps and was also connected with G-2 (Army Intelligence). Ted trained over 3,000 men for the Army. Ted later worked at the Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO), now part of BP, for over 30 years as a distribution manager, residing in Abington, Pa. A Roman Catholic, Ted had a deep faith that was evident in his daily life. He was very active in his parish, Our Lady Help of Christians, in Abington. Later in life he resided in Gilbertsville, Pa. A sports enthusiast, he was especially fond of golf. He was a member of Sandy Run Country Club in Oreland, Pa. for many years, where he preferred the earliest tee-time available in the morning. Even at the age of 98, he always said he missed the game of golf. A loving and caring man, Ted was devoted to his family. In retirement he helped his son, Ted, Jr., with his businesses and spent countless hours with his grandchildren. They have such wonderful memories of the time they spent with Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop. Family will receive relatives and friends Monday, January 4th from 9:30-10:20AM and funeral mass 10:30AM at Our Lady Help of Christians 1500 Marion Rd. Abington, PA 19001. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Phila., PA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tri-County Health & Hospice,13 Armand Hammer Blvd., Pottstown, PA 19464 or the charity of your choice. Family will greet relatives and friends Monday January 4, 2016 from 9:30-10:25 AM and a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at Our Lady Help of Christians, 1500 Marian Rd. Abington, PA 19001. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
