Obituary

Theodore “Ted” James Major passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the age of 83.

Ted was a longtime resident of Upper Merion Township and a hardworking man who spent 30 years as a machinist for Wildman Jacquard Company and Beck Machine before retiring at the age of 65. He worked hard all his life, doing everything he could to provide for his family. As the father of five children, he did his best to make sure his family had what they needed and took pride in being there for them.

Born in Norristown, PA on August 12, 1943, Ted was the son of the late John and Frances (Kozak) Major. He grew up in Bridgeport, PA, attending Our Mother of Sorrows for grade school and Bishop Kenrick High School.

Ted was, at heart, an outdoorsman. Some of his happiest times were spent outside, whether hunting, camping, canoeing, taking scenic rides, or exploring the woods and trails he loved. He especially treasured hunting trips with his son, Robert, his nephew, Scotty, and other family members and friends. Over the years, his love of hunting also brought many four-legged companions into his life. Ted had many hunting dogs throughout the years, each becoming an important part of the life and memories he cherished. His beloved Hanna remained by his side in his later years and will now be lovingly cared for by his daughter, Donna.

Archery was another lifelong passion for Ted. He worked at several archery shops throughout the years, including the King of Prussia Archery Center, and developed a reputation for his knowledge and craftsmanship. He was an arrow maker and bow smith, skills he practiced with pride and shared with many others. For Ted, archery was never simply a hobby, it was a craft, a passion, and a way of life that connected him with friends and fellow outdoorsmen.

Those who knew Ted will remember him for much more than his work and hobbies. He was a familiar and welcome face at his favorite local eating spots, where he became well known by the staff and regulars. He had a quick wit and a unique sense of humor that could catch you off guard and leave you laughing.

Ted could be gruff, stubborn, and sometimes a little rough around the edges. But beneath that exterior was a genuinely kind and caring man. He was not always one to express his feelings with words. Instead, he showed his love by working hard, providing for his family, lending a hand, sharing a laugh, taking someone hunting, or simply being there. That was Ted’s way.

Those who were fortunate enough to know him understood that behind the gruff exterior was a big heart and a deeply caring soul.

Ted leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will carry his love with them. He is survived by his son, Robert J. Major (Kathryn); four daughters, Lisa Marsh, Donna Major, Michelle Major, and Dawn Zelinske; six grandchildren, Dane, Mandy, Keith, Shawn, Alexandra, and Lauren; five great-grandchildren, Michael, Braylon, Brielle, Kayden, and Anthony; his brother, John Major (Floss); sister, Bernice Kriebel; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Marsh, Jr.; his brother, Richard Major (Carol); and brother-in-law, William Kriebel.

To his children, grandchildren, family, and friends, his familiar words will always remain: “Hey, kiddo,” or, when it was time to go, “See you later, kiddo.”

So, Dad, we guess this is the part where you say, “See you later, kiddo.”

You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

WE LOVE YOU DAD!

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson St., Bridgeport, PA 19405, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. His Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
