Theresa Ann “Tess” (Stockman) Nickler passed away at 87 years young on Monday, January 23, 2023. Tess currently resided in Phoenixville, PA , lived almost 50 years in King of Prussia, PA and is originally from South West Philadelphia. Tess attended Most Blessed Sacrament and West Catholic High School. She worked at the Pennsylvania Railroad and then as a cashier for Acme Supermarket, originally at 54th & Woodland and finished her career at the Rosemont Store, where she would be in costume for each holiday. Tess’s retirement job was a Crossing Guard for Upper Merion Township.
Tess was a member of Mother of Divine Providence Church in King of Prussia. She volunteered her time at Lafayette Ambulance Squad in King of Prussia as an E.M.T., Lower Township Rescue Squad, Villas, NJ, Ladies Auxiliary for the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company, where she assisted Santa as Mrs. Claus, and Fairmount Engine Co #2 Ladies Auxiliary, Norristown.
Born in South West Philadelphia, PA on November 15, 1935, she was a daughter of the late George F. and Catherine M. (O’Brien) Stockman. Surviving is her family including a son, Tom (Lemyeung) Nickler of King of Prussia; four daughters: Gerry (William Jr.) Kennedy of Villas, NJ, Julie (Dan) DeOrzio of Phoenixville, Mary Nickler of Bridgeport and Nancy Lightcap of Perkasie; five grandchildren: Joseph (Jess), Tina (Greg), Heather, William III (Sheena) & Lin; and nine great-grandchildren: Adrina, Gregory, Cullen, Sammy, Oliver ,Brayden, William IV, Danica and Dominique. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard; and three sisters, Bessie, Catherine and Eleanor.
Relatives & friends are invited to Tess’ viewing at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Road, King of Prussia, PA on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 9 to 10:15 am; eulogy at 10:20 am; and her Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tess’ memory to St. Jude Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. stjude.org/memorial; and/or to a local volunteer ambulance service.
