Therese M. (Muldowney) Gillespie

Therese M. Gillespie, retired Credit Manager and ConsultantBorn on July 7, 1929 in Frackville, PA, Therese was one of ten children born to William and Laura (O'Brien) Muldowney. She was preceded in death by her beloved and devoted husband, Francis, and sisters: Mary Brennan, Ursula DiSipio and Elizabeth DeWald; and brothers: Robert, Edward, William, Francis, Joseph and Patrick. Surviving are three children: Robert F. of King of Prussia, William M. of Royersford, and Therese M. Squadrito of Devon; a son-in-law, Dr. James F. Squadrito, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Jean A. Gillespie; a brother, John Muldowney (Anna) of Wilmington, DE; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are five beloved grandchildren: Laura Ann Geyer (Chris) and Michael Gillespie, Danielle M., F. James, and John Christian "Jack" Squadrito. She enjoyed and cherished every moment she spent with them and beamed with pride at all they accomplished in their young lives. Mrs. Gillespie was a graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy in Fountain Springs and the McCann School of Business in Mahoney City, PA. Upon graduation, she worked as "Traffic Manager" at W.P.A.M. in Pottsville where she often did commercials. Following her marriage, she became a full-time wife and mother. After her husband's death in 1983, she joined the staff of Rittenhouse Book Distributors. She worked her way up the ranks from a Collection Clerk to Credit Manager and later as a Consultant, always taking pride in any task she was given. She was the recipient of the "Employee of the Month" Award and also "Manager of the Year" Award.Therese was a founding member of Mother of Divine Providence Church and was on the committee for the 50th Anniversary Celebration. In her early years at M.D.P she was a Room Mother of Library Aid, a member of the Women's Guild serving on numerous committees and was a lifelong member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She also served on the School Board and the Parish Council. She often reminisced about the happy times she and her friends enjoyed no matter what the event. In addition, Therese was a member of the Upper Merion Senior Center. She enjoyed walking, aerobics, line dancing, trips to the casinos and especially her trips to the Walnut Street Theatre with her dear friend, Joan Forster, and spending time with her family in Longport, NJ. Therese and her late husband were avid square dancers and were members of four professional Square Dance clubs. She also had fond memories of all her travel experiences both here and abroad. During her battle with cancer she participated in the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life." She worked hard to promote and collect money for the event and served on several committees. Above all, she loved being a devoted mother and grandmother, helping people in need, and was a loyal friend to those who knew her.Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd, King of Prussia, PA 19406 on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 10:30 am. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:20 am, at the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Therese's memory may be made to Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd, King of Prussia, PA 19406.Arrangements are by The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., Bridgeport, PA.www.bacchifuneralhome.com
