Therese Sherwood Schlott

Therese Sherwood “Sherry” Schlott, age 70, passed away on March 11, 2020 at her home in Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania. Sherry was born in Staten Island, New York, and moved to Wilmington, Delaware with her family when she was a teen. She was a graduate of Brandywine High School, class of 1968. Sherry was kind, loving, and generous. Her thirst for education led her to return to the University of Delaware in her late thirties, where she studied exercise physiology and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Sherry was a talented fitness trainer and group fitness instructor in Wilmington for many years, a lover of movies and music, and she loved to laugh more than just about anything. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmore Grigg Smith, Jr. and her daughter, Kelly Therese Schlott. Sherry is survived by her mother, Therese Sherwood Smith; her husband of 47 years, Craig; her daughter Shannon Therese Somma and husband Peter, and her granddaughters, Kelly Maureen Therese, and McKenzie Grace. She is also survived by her three loving siblings, Virgina Karwel (Joseph), Patricia Sexton (William), and Elmore Smith (Maura).
