Blyskal, Thomas (76). Tom was born in Philadelphia on August 11, 1946, and died at home in Valley Forge on December 17, 2022. He leaves behind his devoted wife of forty years, Peg (Humes). Tom is also survived by his brother, Carl and wife Susie, and brother, Marty, and wife Pat. He is also survived by his niece Beth, her husband Miguel Fabrega, and their children Isabel and Tomas. Tom will also be missed by Peg’s siblings, Bill, Paula (deceased), Chip, and Mike and their children and grandchildren.
Tom was predeceased by his father, Edward Blyskal, and his mother Helen (Kucharewicz) Blyskal. Tom was a graduate of Saint Ladislaus elementary, Cardinal Dougherty high school, the University of Pennsylvania, and Widener University.
After completing his undergraduate degree Tom taught at Archbishop Ryan Catholic high school in Philadelphia. He then spent several decades in the insurance industry. Finally, Tom worked for the State of Pennsylvania, and retired to enjoy learning a new language (German), and exploring museums, and other cultural gems of the Philadelphia region with Peg and their family and friends.
The family is grateful for the care and support of the Main Line Health hospice team. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s name may be sent to his parish, Saint Vincent de Paul, 109 East Price Street, Philadelphia, PA 19144. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent’s.
