Thomas J. Donnelly, Sr.

Thomas J. Donnelly Sr. passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2011 at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, PA. He was 83. Mr. Donnelly was a resident of King of Prussia, PA. He graduated from Villanova University in 1950. Thomas worked as a Certified Public Accountant for Montgomery County in Norristown, PA, and retired in 1993 after serving as the Director of Finance. He was an active member of Mother of Divine Providence Church, King of Prussia, PA. Thomas will be remembered for his dedication to his family and to the Catholic Church and for his great sense of humor. He enjoyed vacationing at the Jersey shore with his family, crossword puzzles and spending time with his grandchildren. He dedicated much of his time and accounting talents on a regular basis, and was an extraordinary minister for many years. Thomas was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, and supported his children in their athletic endeavors as well. Thomas served in the PA National Guard from 1948 to 1950, and he was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from 1950 to 1952. Born in Philadelphia, PA on October 18, 1928, he was a son of the late Timothy and Clara (Lynch) Donnelly and he grew up with 9 brothers and sisters. Surviving is his loving family including his wife of 54 years, Mary L. (Baxter) Donnelly; a daughter, Mary Buffington (Blake); 5 sons: Thomas (Barbara), Timothy (Julia), Michael (Linda), Francis (Sharon) and Joseph (Michele); son-in-law, Edward Minguez; grandchildren: Michael Buffington and Julie Banks; Ian, Trent and Marley Donnelly; Michael and Jordan Donnelly; Stephen and Alex Minguez; David, Christopher and Andrew Soto; and Nicholas Donnelly; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Rylee Soto; Destinee and Isaiah Soto.; 2 sisters, Cathleen McCabe and Sr. Frances Therese Donnelly, S.N.D.; and a brother, Rev. Joseph B. Donnelly. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Minguez; 4 brothers: Martin, John, Robert and Rev. Msgr. Francis Donnelly; and 2 sisters, Mary O'Meilia and Sr. Frances Claire Donnelly, R.S.M.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd. King of Prussia, PA 19406 on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 10:30am. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:20am, at the church.
