Thomas F. Donofrio, Sr.

Thomas F. Donofrio, Sr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center in Pottstown, PA. He was 82. Mr. Donofrio was a resident of Schwenksville, PA. He worked as a butcher for the Armour Co. in Norristown, PA and then opened his own butcher shop called Tomar Meat Co., located first in Norristown and then in Bridgeport. He later retired as a supervisor at the Devault Packing Co. Thomas was a member of St. Mary's Church in Delphi, PA and formerly a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bridgeport, PA. He was a graduate of the former Bridgeport High School, Class of 1945. His hobbies included deer hunting, classic cars, coin collecting and he was an avid golfer. Born in Bridgeport, PA on July 29, 1927, he was a son of the late Domenico and Maria (Proietto) D'onofrio. Surviving are his loving family including his wife of 61 years, Antoinette R. Donofrio; two sons, Thomas F. Donofrio, Jr. and his wife, Christina of Upper Providence, PA and Domenic A. Donofrio of Royersford, PA; a daughter, Maria Santangelo and her husband, Charles of E. Norriton, PA; four granddaughters: Jennifer, Melissa, Antoinette and Elizabeth; one step-grandson, Joseph; one great-grandson, Nathan; two sisters, Lucy Decenzo of Lafayette Hill, PA and Gevena Profera of Plymouth Twp., PA; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers, John, Frank, Joe, Phillip and Louis. Relatives & friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 502 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:30am. His viewing will be Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:20am, at the church.
