Thomas George Rigney

THOMAS GEORGE RIGNEY of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on March 8, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Hospital after a brief illness. Tom was born in 1934 in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. He was the fourth of five children born to John Rigney and Josephine Rigney (nee Hafner). Tom received his B.A. and MBA from Drexel University in Philadelphia and was proud to be a Golden Dragon. During his career, he specialized in sales and sales management at his companies, including Honeywell, Xerox and Packard Press, along with other financial services printing organizations. Tom was a proud Catholic and parishioner of Immaculate Conception BVM Church in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, acting as an usher for the church for several years. He was a member of the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick and had attended retreats at the Men of Malvern. Tom was predeceased by his brothers Jack and Gerald Rigney. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Eileen Rigney (nee Kelley); siblings James Rigney and Patricia Schaum ; his five children, Eileen Dougherty and husband Chris; Sharon Katope and husband Chris; Kathryn Rigney; Thomas Rigney and partner Richard Gagliardi; and Stacy Rigney; his two grandchildren, Andrew Dougherty and wife Amy and Christopher Milen King Katope; and two great grandchildren, Gavin and Owen Dougherty. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 14th at Immaculate Conception BVM Church, 602 West Avenue in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. There will be a viewing at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass at 10:30 AM, with Father Joseph Howarth officiating.
