Thomas F. Spreeman passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Phoenixville Hospital in Phoenixville, PA. He was 85. Mr. Spreeman was a resident of Phoenixville, was formerly of King of Prussia, PA, and raised in West Oak Lane and Drexel Hill. He graduated from West Catholic High School and from Drexel University. A proud member of the ROTC, he was stationed in Fort Benning, GA and was honorably discharged as a Captain. Thomas was employed for 40 years by CoreStates Bank, now Wells Fargo, retiring as a Vice-president. Following retirement, he continued working as a consultant until the age of 80. Thomas was an active member of Valley Forge Presbyterian Church, where he served on Session, various committees and was an Elder. He and Barb served as leaders of the church youth program, where his nickname was “Moose”. Thomas was an avid traveler. He visited nearly every state and boasted of going on more than 40 cruises to many foreign countries. He was a true beach bum, spending many years going to Ocean City. In 1983, he and his wife, Barb, built a house in the Poconos. They spent many happy days relaxing at their mountain home. His hobbies included camping, wood working, gardening, golf and dining out. Thomas was an avid fan of the Philadelphia A’s and was disappointed when they moved from the city. His greatest joy was family events and he enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. More than that, he loved the “lively” discussions he would engage in with family members. Born in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, PA on July 7, 1932, he was the only child of the late Faller and Irene (Glattle) Spreeman. He married the love of his life, the former Barbara Brooks on April 4, 1953 and they recently celebrated their 64th anniversary. He is also survived by three daughters: Linda Spreeman of King of Prussia, PA, Sandy (Jeff) Klinger of Hatfield, PA and Connie (Tom) McCarthy of Hatfield, PA; four grandchildren: Julie (Zeth) Wentz of Royersford, PA, Kimberly Mabry of King of Prussia, Justin (Becky) Klinger of Towamencin, PA and Katelyn Klinger (Chris Cinquini) of Gilbertsville, PA; and six great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Thomas’ Funeral Service at the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 2203 Harmonyville Road, Elverson, PA on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00 am. His viewing will be from 10 to 10:50 am, at the church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thomas’ memory to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 and/or the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43214. Arrangements are by The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., Bridgeport, PA.
