Timothy B Loomis

December 13, 1974 — April 6, 2024

Three words come to mind when you hear the name Tim Loomis; family, sports, and fun.

Family: Tim grew up in an exuberant household with his seven siblings. His mom planned month-long, cross-country trips, exploring almost all of the United States, by car. The Loomis family wasn’t complete without the turbo Nerf football, “Turbs” which accompanied them everywhere they traveled. Twenty bucks were said to be awarded to Tim on March 5, yearly if he remembered the special occasion before his brothers. A tune produced by Tim and his siblings emphasized their everlasting memories, “we are the Loomis, Loomis family, everywhere we go, people wanna know, when we’re leaving, how long we’re staying.” The ten person household always had each other's back, and showed up in demanding times. His admired wife, Karen, shared his merit and interests, for he wanted utterly the best for her. Nearing adulthood, Tim grew into the doting father he’d always dreamed of becoming when his two cherished daughters, Allie and Caitlin, arrived. Tim was the definition of a proud girl dad. Groceries, rides, and showing up to sporting events were eagerly part of his routine. A majority of his time was willingly spent valuing those he loved.

Sports: Abundant time was devoted to The New York Giants, Yankees, Syracuse, Knicks, LaSalle, Iowa, and Siena, (the list goes on and on), on game days. Sundays during the football season consisted of a phone call to Tim’s dad, adorned in a #11, Phill Simms jersey, discussing the approaching Giants game. A rivalry rose in the Loomis household when the Giants opposed the Eagles. In the basement, Tim could be spotted antsy while watching such a game while Karen cheered for the Eagles above. A proud dad moment occurred when Tim converted his daughters from Eagles to Giants fans, heartily purchasing merchandise for his new allies. Tim visited several MLB stadiums nationally, and he’d often boast about the hefty number of World Series captured by the Yankees. Tim thrived on the Westland Hills Little League baseball team for several springs. On the court, Tim most enjoyed Basketball. Growing up, playing at Rosemont Park in Albany, NY, was where Tim wanted to be on summer days. 35 years later, the eighth grade MVP award continued to be heavily contested between Tim and his best friend, Ciaran Cummings, who took the trophy home. Selection Sunday would always prove to be an emotional rollercoaster for this die hard Syracuse fan, for some were filled with sorrow and others great joy. Lawrence Taylor was Tim’s favorite athlete of all time, advertised in his confirmation moniker, Lawrence, and firstborn’s middle name, Taylor.

Fun: “Yolo '' was Tim’s lifelong mentality. Tim was always in the makings of elaborate trips, including Vegas and Disney (numerous times), Ireland, Seattle, North Carolina, California, and Colorado. You never knew where a day would end with Tim and spontaneous excursions were the norm. One of his best hauls was Taylor Swift tickets for his two daughters and wife on Mother’s Day, accompanied by several impulsive baseball games. Tim could be counted on to spend his summers at the Saratoga Race track, either working there as a teenager, along with his sister, Eileen, or later partaking in bets with family as a spectator. The “loop god” kept the Lasalle roommates and other sports fanatics together throughout the years. Whether it was debating hot topics, sharing meaningless comments, or sending TikToks, which would later earn Tim the nickname “Timtok,” the loop could always depend on Tim to keep things interesting. Tim could be persuaded into a Starbucks and Target trip by his beloved daughters on any given day. He never ignored the baseball card aisle on these trips, and he cheerfully carried on the tradition by building up his youngest daughter, Caitlin, a collection of hockey cards.

Tim graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, NY where he excelled in basketball and track. Succeeding, Tim graduated in the 1997 class from Lasalle University with a degree in Computer Information Systems. He applied his knowledge from his degree as a Principal Support Specialist at Vertex Inc. This past March 28, Tim celebrated winning the Time in Support Review Award with his colleagues.
