Vera Catherine (Serafino) Vance, age 85, departed from this life on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, to join her loving husband and soul mate. She was accompanied by a host of family members awaiting her in our Lord's loving arms.Born to Nicholas and Catherine (Pastino) Serafino in Conshohocken, PA on June 14, 1924, she was the elder sibling of Nick "Nay" Serafino and Marie (Serafino) Palmeiri, both of Florida and the late Concetta "Connie" (Serafino) Santillo. Also surviving are three sons: James T. Vance and his wife, Diane Anderson of Plymouth Meeting, PA; Pasquale "Pat" A. Vance, Jr. and his life partner, Mitchell Durant of Port St. Lucie, Fl and Nicholas M. Vance and his wife, Margaret Zeits of Limerick, PA; 3 step-grandchildren: Jennifer, Salvatore and Christopher Rose; one great-grandson, Salvatore Rose IV; and many nephews and nieces. Living most of her life in Bridgeport, PA, she met and married her loving husband, the late Pat A. Vance Sr. and was blessed with 3 sons whom they traveled the country with, enjoying many beautiful destinations. They decided to retire to South Florida where they settled for many years. Vera was educated in cosmetology and graduated from Modernella Beauty College of Philadelphia. She enjoyed working with some of the most talented stylists of the day. After marrying Pat, she decided that hair styling became secondary to being a wife, mother and homemaker. Being a wonderful baker, cook and mom to her family, holidays were her favorite family time to have everyone at their home around her family table.Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 502 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 10:30am. Officiating will be her nephew, the Rev. Msgr. Charles P. Vance. Vera's viewing is Friday morning from 8:30 to 10:20am, at the church. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Vera's memory to Neighborhood Hospice, 400 E.
