Salvino
Vincent C. a lifetime resident of Tacony in Philadelphia, PA passed suddenly on December 27, 2023 at age 68. Vinny was the loving son of the late Carmen and Rita (White) Salvino. Dear brother of Christina Caracciolo (Paul Jr.) and the Late Barbara Ann and David J. He was the devoted and beloved Uncle of Paul III and Gabriella.
Vinny was a US Navy veteran who was stationed in Norfolk, VA and he served overseas. Vinny was born in Tacony and never left. He always said that that was his home and the residents were “his people”. His childhood was spent fishing on the river, scouting, and hanging with his buddies “on the corner”—those corners included DoDo’s, McPeak’s, and, the freight yards. He was a lifetime member of St. Leo’s Parish, where he attended St. Leo’s School during his childhood and mourned the loss of the parish to fire. Vinny enjoyed socializing with his buddies and friends at Currans and Hessions among other local spots. When he passed, neighbors were sharing stories of him “being the mayor” and keeping an eye on the comings and goings around his complex. Vinny was always a man of the neighborhood.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing from 9:30 – 10:45 AM and are invited to his Funeral Mass at 11 AM, both at Our Lady of Consolation Church at 7056 Tulip St. Philadelphia, PA 19135 on Tuesday January 2, 2024.
His Interment will be at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorne.
