Vincent "Vince" G. Gallagher, Sr.

Vincent G. Gallagher, Sr. passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026 at the Southeastern Veterans Center in Spring City, PA, with his loving son Vincent Jr., by his side. He was 94 years old. Vince was a longtime resident of Chesterbrook, PA and worked in real estate in partnership with his late wife, as well as running a successful business in Philadelphia with her for many years.

‘Vince and Lee’ as they were known by their many friends and business associates, were beloved and admired for their strong personal and business partnership.

Vince served proudly for many years in the United States Army, first in the New York National Guard, and then when the United States federalized the New York National Guard; his unit was sent to Korea as part of the famous the ‘United States 8th Army’ where he served his country during the Korean War as a 1st Lieutenant. He was given an Honorable Discharge and remained a very patriotic citizen for the remainder of his life.

Vince was an avid target shooter, hunter and fisherman and was happiest when he was surf fishing from the beach in New Jersey and Florida, fly fishing in Pennsylvania streams and lakes, or hunting deer, antelope or grizzly bear in Alaska, Wyoming or Pennsylvania.

He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (N.R.A.) and a regular supporter and contributor to charities that served the local Police and Fire Departments.

Vince was the beloved husband of Lee T. (Reres) Gallagher, with whom he spent 70 wonderful years before her passing in December of 2023. Vince’s eyes would light up whenever anyone was willing to listen to his deep love for his wife, and there courtship he recorded in his memoir ‘A Time to Remember’

He also advocated the United States Congress to recognize and honor his first cousin, Vincent Cavallo, who served in World War II, and was killed in action against the Imperial Japanese Army in Burma in 1941 the account of which he documented in his book ‘A Tribute to Private Vincent Cavallo’

Vince also developed a strong Christian faith later in life and was a member of the Holy Ghost Orthodox Catholic Church, located in Phoenixville Pennsylvania.

Born in New York City, NY on February 9, 1932, he was a son of the late John A. and Donnatellia (Cavallo) Gallagher. His father’s family was from County Mayo, Ireland, and his mother was an immigrant from Naples Italy. He had two brothers, Michael Gallagher, and James Gallagher and was raised in Woodside, Queens New York.

Vince is survived by his son, Vincent G. Gallagher, Jr, who became his primary caregiver and legal advocate since his wife’s passing, and he is also survived by his three grandchildren, Catherine Peters, John Gallagher, and Michael Gallagher.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his first born son, John A. Gallagher, who passed in October 2020.

‘Vince and Lee’ both will be fondly remembered by their friends and family for their welcoming and cheerful attitudes, and their devotion to hard-work and love of America.

Services and interment will be private for the family.
