Virginia “Ginny” Catherine Marie (nee Snock) Wallace passed away at the age of 84 on Wednesday November 1, 2023, at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, Delaware, after a short illness. Ginny was a former resident of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Born in Philadelphia on December 3, 1938, Ginny was a daughter of the late James and Virginia (nee Reilly) Snock. Raised on Hadfield Street, she graduated from Philadelphia’s West Catholic Girls’ High School in June 1956. A week later, Ginny married the love of her life, Joseph F. Wallace—just before they shipped to Hawaii due to Joe’s service in the Army. They eventually settled back in Pennsylvania where they raised their six children. After Ginny retired from several decades of work in financial and engineering sales, she and Joe travelled and were involved in many religious, community, and Veterans’ groups. Upon relocating to Lewes, Ginny was Joe’s constant and loving caretaker as he declined and eventually predeceased her in 2021 after 65 years of marriage.
Ginny remained a loyal and lifelong friend to many. She was known for her beautiful hand-written notes, prolific storytelling, consistent praying of the rosary, and daily gentle acts of simple kindness to all those with whom she came in contact. With all that, Ginny will also be remembered as one of the toughest (in the best possible way), independent, and resilient people one would ever have the great fortune to meet.
Most important to Ginny was her large and loving family. Surviving her are three daughters: Gini (Michael) DiStefano, Kristine (Gary) Kuhna, and Barbie Santangelo; two sons: Joseph M. (Karen) Wallace and the Honorable Paul R. Wallace; eleven grandchildren: Alisa (Christopher) Laing, Michael DiStefano, Benjamin (Lisa) Wallace, Esq., Kevin Kuhna, Gina Marie Santangelo, Ellie Wallace, Darin Santangelo, Mark Kuhna, Kacy Wallace, Nicolette Santangelo, and Kelly Wallace; five great-grandchildren: Gavin, Travis, Colton, Helana, and Lucy; her sister Joan (Kate) Kennedy; and her many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Joe, Ginny was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Ann Wallace, and her brothers, James and Richard Snock.
Relatives and friends are invited to Ginny’s Funeral Mass at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Road, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, Pennsylvania.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ginny’s memory to The American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org or The Blinded Veterans Association, P.O. Box 90770, Washington, DC 20090 at bva.org.
