Virginia M. Smith

Virginia M. Smith, 77, of Bensalem, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023, at her residence. Virginia was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 11, 1945, a daughter of the late Emilia (nee Konopelski) and James M. McAlonan.

She was the beloved wife of the late John P. Smith Sr.,

Mother to Christine Brown, nee Smith (Thomas), and John Smith, Jr. (Patricia).

Nana to Ryan, Lauren, Anna.

Virginia is survived by her brother, James Mcalonan (Kathleen).

Ginny was a strong woman who loved life. Her life was not easy as she tragically lost her husband at a young age. With two young children to raise, she became stronger and more determined to face this challenge. The successes of her daughter and son are evidence of her efforts and she was very proud of their accomplishments.

Aside from her duties as a mother, she found joy in the great outdoors. Gardening was one of her passions and she loved to see the fruits of her labors. She also enjoyed camping and being out in nature.

On the home front, she would often tackle various handyman jobs such as painting and building things and loved working with tools. Ginny also treasured her dogs and loved to watch her tropical fish.

Ginny worked at Our Lady of Ransom School and later at Rolling Hill Hospital helping others as a nursing aide.

Ginny had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh. During her later years, she battled several health problems but again, her determination was a great inspiration to us all. She will be greatly missed.

Relatives and Friends are invited to Virginia’s visitation on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 10-11am and her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am both held at St. Anselm Church, 12669 Dunks Ferry Road, Philadelphia, PA.

Interment will be held at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA.
