William B. Bieber, formerly of King of Prussia, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024 at Vitas
Hospice House, Lake Wales, Florida. He was 85 years old. Bill was born in Kutztown, PA on
September 6, 1938. He was the son of the late Annie S. (Printz) and John W. Bieber. Bill was
preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Janet S. (Pauley) and two siblings, Fay A. Werley (Jay)
and John B. Bieber (Jean).
Bill is survived by his children, Thomas B. (Kelly), Richard W. (Dawn), and Susan K. Helenski (Ed),
grandchildren Carolyn and William Helenski, Maddisen and Lindsey Bieber, and a sister, Joan M.
Bieber.
Bill was most proud that at the age of 16 he joined the PA National Guard. Bill graduated from
Kutztown Area High School in 1956, where he was class treasurer and voted “most courteous”.
Bill enlisted in the United States Army in 1957. He gained the rank of Specialist 5th class
working in Electronic Warfare Equipment Repair. After serving his country, Bill was employed by
General Electric. He was an aeronautical programmer who began his career by working on
NASA’s Gemini and Mercury space programs and building one of GE’s first main frame
computers.
As a resident of King of Prussia, Bill was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where he
served as an usher and took great pride in lighting the luminaries and dimming the lights during
the Christmas Eve services. Bill was a baseball enthusiast. Along with his dear friend Jack
Bateman, Bill dedicated many years to the UMBA organization and assisted in the origin
of the Upper Merion American Legion Baseball program by coaching the Valley Forge Lodge
O.S.I.A. and Vito’s Pizza junior and senior legion baseball teams, respectively.
In addition to being an avid golfer, Bill loved to travel. For the past 15 years Bill enjoyed
extensive cruises accompanied by his loving companion, Fran. They were able to travel to 61
countries without ever going on an airplane.
Visitation with Bill’s family will be held from 8:30am to 9:50am on Friday, March 15, 2024 at
Good Shephard Lutheran Church 132 E. Valley Forge Rd, King of Prussia, followed immediately
with his memorial service at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery, Kutztown, PA at
12:30pm.
