William “Bill” John DiCarlo, 71, of Audubon, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Yeadon, Pennsylvania, and raised in Philadelphia, Bill was the son of the late William John DiCarlo, Sr. and Ruth Marie (O’Donnell) DiCarlo. He graduated from St. Thomas More High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Drexel University. A respected licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) specializing in civil and structural engineering, Bill was a co-founder and principal of Mainstay Engineering. He took great pride in his profession and in the business he helped build. A natural teacher and dedicated mentor, he generously shared his knowledge and expertise with colleagues and aspiring engineers, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of learning from him.
A longtime resident of Audubon and a member of St. Teresa of Avila Church, Bill enjoyed following the stock market, cooking, playing his guitar, watching movies, and cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. Known for his quick wit and dry, sarcastic sense of humor, he had a gift for making people laugh, often when they least expected it. Whether creating a silly jingle accompanied by a little dance or delivering a perfectly timed remark, Bill brought laughter and lightheartedness to everyday moments. He also appreciated life’s quieter pleasures, especially enjoying a cup of coffee in the early morning hours before the rest of the world was awake.
Above all, Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy was his family. Always willing to offer advice or lend a helping hand, he was someone his family and friends knew they could count on. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories, valuable lessons, and a love that will remain with his family always.
Bill was the beloved husband of 47 years to Christine (Cianchetti) DiCarlo. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Nicole “Nicki” Carfagno (David) and Lisa DiCarlo (Jordan Wang); his cherished granddaughter, Gianna Carfagno; his two brothers, Robert DiCarlo and David DiCarlo; his sister, Ruthie Beltrante; his three sisters-in-law, Marie Vergilio (Michael), Ann Reed (Michael), and Donna Vitali (Andrew); and many loving nieces and nephews.
