William H. (Bill) Clark, 71, of Wyncote, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2024, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family at Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience. Bill was born in Abington, PA, on April 1, 1953, son of the late Marie E. (Cunnane) and Kenneth J. Clark, of Glenside.
Bill made friends wherever he went, especially in Glenside, Wyncote, Jenkintown and Cape May. People were drawn to his quiet, humble nature and loyal to him for his patient, generous ways.
After graduating from Abington High School, Bill was assistant pro at Rydal Country Club, then worked for Abington Township, and volunteered at Weldon Fire Company for many years.
In 1978, Bill met Patti Fleming, sparking a two-year romance that led to their marriage in 1980. They settled on Woodland Road in Wyncote to raise their family in a beautiful Victorian home, on which Bill worked tirelessly to restore it to its full glory. Patti and Bill welcomed friends and family into their home for countless gatherings and celebrations over the years. Their love flourished for 44 years; theirs was a true partnership. Patti is forever grateful for Billy’s unconditional love and steadfast support throughout their life together.
Bill was a devoted, hands-on Dad who coached his kids’ teams, provided for their every need, supported their formal education at all levels, and advocated for their well-being through the years.
Since 1981, as the owner of William Clark Masonry, Bill mentored dozens of young men and formed friendships that lasted decades with his employees, fellow contractors, and customers. He was known for his strong work ethic, craftsmanship, attention to detail, and honesty among many loyal clients. He truly loved working with his hands and putting in a good day’s work.
Cape May was Bill’s home away from home ― his happy place ― made complete when he was surrounded by his family on the deck enjoying a cold Coors Light. With creativity, a designer’s eye, and a love of nature, Bill tended the gardens and made his yards beautiful. He also kept the inside of his homes in ship shape, always a labor of love.
A talented athlete and avid Phillies, Eagles, and PGA fan, Bill spent many weekends cheering on his teams with family and friends; he loved golfing, especially at Sandy Run; gardening at home and in Cape May; and always had a home improvement project (or three) in the works.
Cherished and beloved husband of Patricia Fleming Clark. Loving father of Maureen Yarnall (Jason), Michael (Nicole), and Kevin (Lauren Wilson). Loving grandfather "Boss" to Connor, Rowan Elizabeth, and Jack Yarnall. Brother of Kenneth (Elizabeth), Wallace (Lydia), Catherine Henninger (Bill), and Thomas John and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bill will also be dearly missed by the entire Fleming family.
