William Joseph Hudak

May 29, 1937 — August 12, 2022

William Joseph Hudak, age 85, of Wilmington, Delaware passed peacefully on August 12, 2022. Bill was born on May 29, 1937 to the late Julia (née Kalinak) and the late William Hudak. Predeceased by his siblings, Julia, Michael, Florence, Ann, John, Mary and Pauline. He was the loving husband of Janice A. Hudak (née DuBrock). He was the devoted father of Andrea Hudak Duffy and Gregg Hudak and the amazing grandfather (“Pappen”) of Alexa, Connor, Ryan and Sean. He is also survived by his beloved siblings, George, Dorothy and Helen. He was the dedicated Uncle Bill to many nieces and nephews. Bill was a graduate of Bartram High School in South Philadelphia and studied at Villanova University. He was an electronics genius and bravely served our country in the Navy in a classified capacity. After his service, Bill continued in the field of electronics with General Electric and Honeywell where he earned many various awards and commendations. Bill was known for his selfless golden heart and was kind and generous to everyone he met. He could creatively fix everything tangible and intangible, including loved ones’ personal troubles. He loved watching Andrea entertain and succeed in her career and Gregg’s personal accomplishments. He was immensely proud of all his grandchildren’s endeavors. He enjoyed sharing his love of history, electronics, tools and sports with his grandchildren. Even in his last few days of life, he still remembered to sign (in American Sign Language), “I love you” to his granddaughter. He always had a charming smile on his face and was quick to quote one of his many unique phrases. Bill was an avid reader and had a thirst for knowledge. He just may have watched every History Channel presentation, World War 2 movie and every film his family wanted him to see. Bill was our role model of faith and leaves his legacy of saying “I love you” at the end of every single conversation, which shall be continued by his children and grandchildren forever. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral liturgy Friday, August 19, 2022 at 11 AM at Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, 2310 S. 24th St., Philadelphia, PA 19145.
