William H.R. Ralston, age 91, of Audubon passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Friday, November 7, 2014. He was born in Norristown to the late William H.R. Ralston and Anna (Swymelar) Ralston. Bill was a 1941 graduate of Norristown High School and a WWII Navy Utah Beach D-Day Veteran who proudly served in the European Amphibious Force. He was trained as an electrician’s mate and then furthered his skills at Drexel University after the war. He worked as an electrician and supervisor for Merck Sharp and Dohme West Point for over 31 years. He was a member of the Frank C. Parker VFW Post and attended many Naval reunions. Bill enjoyed camping throughout all 50 states and traveled around the world. He was very generous with his time and talents and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He was known by all as Mr. Fix-It. Bill is survived by his wife of 70 years Mary (Schaffer) Ralston, three daughters Rebecca Doherty (Daniel J.) of Westford, MA, Deborah Adams (James G.) of Edmond, OK, and Susannah Ralston Conard (Robert M.) of Audubon, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters Margaret Fryer (Bruce) of Beaufort, SC and Marilyn Nannen (Herbert) of North Wales, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12 at St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church located at 2725 Egypt Road, Audubon, PA. There will be a visitation from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and again from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
