Winnie A. (Carr) Knoebel

Winnie A. (Carr) Knoebel passed away peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2011, surrounded by her loving family and friends at her residence in Bridgeport, PA. She was 71. Mrs. Knoebel was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport and a graduate of the former Bridgeport High School. She worked as a technician for the former Western Electric in King of Prussia, PA. Winnie was a member of St. Augustine R.C. Church in Bridgeport, PA and the VFW Post 9462 Ladies Auxiliary in Absecon, NJ. She enjoyed fishing, time at the casinos, summers at the beach and ladies weekends. Winnie's favorite thing was spending time with her family and friends. Born in Norristown, PA on July 24, 1939, she was a daughter of the late James and Mae (McNamara) Carr. Surviving is her loving family including her husband of 40 years, Robert H. Knoebel; two sons, David H. Knoebel and his wife, Amy of West Chester, PA and Steven E. Knoebel of Absecon, NJ; two daughters, Bobbie Jean Kelly and her husband, Terry of King Manor, PA and Beth Wharen of Reading, PA; 15 grandchildren: Andrew, Amanda, Kyle, Hope, Terry Jr., Shannon, Melissa, Daniel, R. Kelly, Jen, Kristen, Sarah, Robbie, Faith and Michelle; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lou Melle and her husband, Sam of E. Norriton, PA. She was preceded in death by a son, James Carr; and a daughter, Kathleen McKelvey.Winnie's Funeral Mass will be at St. Augustine R.C. Church, 464 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 10:30am. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:20am, at the church. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Winnie's memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of America, 555 North Lane, Suite 5010, Conshohocken, PA 19428and/or St. Augustine R.C.
